David Jones is an instructor and consultant with expertise in Management, Leadership, Performance Excellence, Strategic Planning, Manufacturing, Marketing, and ISO 9000 and 13485.

With over 30 years of experience in manufacturing, health care, and education, David is passionate about helping organizations improve their performance, particularly through the use of the Baldrige Criteria. He has extensive hands-on experience in the Baldrige Criteria as an applicant, examiner, examiner trainer, and judge:

  • Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award: Examiner, Senior Examiner, Alumni Examiner, Training Facilitator (1998-2007, 2011-2012)
  • Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence: Examiner (1994-1998, 2011-present), Judge (2002-2010, present), Training Facilitator (2000-present)
  • Virginia Senate Productivity and Quality Award: Criteria Trainer and Examiner (2012)

In 2007 he co-founded Edamar, Inc., an award-winning educational products company serving the K-12 science classroom with innovative hands-on teaching tools. Prior to 2007, in addition to doing consulting, David worked for Texas Instruments, Siemens, and EPIC Technologies as an engineer and manager in Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Marketing and Sales.

David is an adjunct instructor in the College of Business and Technology at East Tennessee State University. He serves on the Advisory Board for the Mayberry Chair of Excellence at Tennessee Tech University. He has earned certifications from the American Society for Quality as a Certified Quality Engineer (1985-2011) and Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (1995-2011).

David has a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University and a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering (Engineering Management) from the University of Tennessee.
