Dennis R. Phillips, Mayor of Kingsport, Tennessee, recently proclaimed that May 3, 2011 be recognized as David McClaskey day. David was honored because of his lifetime of achievement as a management consultant which has included receiving the 2010 Ned R. McWherter Leadership Award from the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence, assisting seven companies to win eight Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Awards, as well as co-founding and leading the Pal’s Business Excellence Institute. Thom Crosby Shares Insight on Baldrige Implementation

Pal’s BEI Featured in Nation’s Restaurant News

Pal’s Business Excellence Institute was pleased to be featured in the April 4, 2011 Nation’s Restaurant News article entitled Model of Efficiency. The article highlights how Pal’s BEI training and consulting impacted K&N Management - a 2010 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award winner – the only other food service company to win. The article reveals how K&N’s average unit sales were around $3 million per store when they first visited Pal’s BEI and how they are at $7.5 million per unit today. Congratulations to the Tempur Production USA leadership team at the Duffield, VA production facility. They completed Pal’s BEI Leadership Development Training – The FranklinCovey Seven Habits for Highly Effective Managers on March 9-10th. This training was conducted by Dr. Deborah Harley who is a facilitator/mentor for the Franklin Covey organization and an Assistant Professor and Director of the Leadership Program in the Department of Human Development and Learning at East Tennessee State University. McClaskey Presented McWherter Leadership Award

McWherter Leadership Award Winner at the Excellence in Tennessee Awards Banquet on February 23, 2011. Katie Rawls, President of TNCPE and Mike McWherter, son of former governor Ned McWherter gave the award. The Ned R. McWherter Leadership Award annually recognizes an individual who exemplifies outstanding leadership in the pursuit of performance excellence. Winners are dedicated to the principles of the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence, have furthered performance improvement beyond the boundaries of their organizations and are committed to the core values of the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence program. Dr. Harley Kicks-Off 2011 Leadership Series

Dr. Deborah Harley kicked-off Pal’s BEI 2011 series of public leadership training classes with Time Management for Microsoft Outlook on February 10th, 2011. This training covers planning concepts such as the Time Matrix, Productivity Pyramid, Weekly and Daily Planning Strategies, and Setting Priorities. This training is also targeted to help improve utilization of Microsoft Outlook to manage time using filters, coding emails, rules wizards, advanced find, etc. The alumni of the February class included Ryan Broyles (Mountain Empire Oil Company/Roadrunner Markets), Kevin Oliver (Eastman Chemical), Travis Leming (Farm Bureau Insurance), Sam Widener (Winco, Inc.) , Eric Edens (Caris Healthcare), and Sara Forrester (Nuclear Fuel Services). “Overalll great class!!” commented Kevin Oliver from Eastman.Category: Newsletter Articles | Comments Off
